This was the house where Du Fu, a great Tang Dynasty poet, lived when he traveled to Chengdu. Thatched Cottage of Dufu is the largest, best-preserved and best-known residence of Du Fu and Thatched Cottage of Dufu is quite unique.

What to expect at Thatched Cottage of Dufu
Thatched Cottage of Dufu covers an area of 16 hectares, with the buildings in typical Qing-style architecture and the grounds an unusual mix of traditional Chinese gardens. Thatched Cottage of Dufu is both a temple dedicated to the poet and a residence museum celebrating his literary achievements.
In the winter of 759 AD, Du Fu took his family from Gansu to Sichuan to refuge from An-Shi Disturbances, and built a thatched cottage, the famous “Chengdu Thatched Cottage”. Dans 1985, Thatched Cottage of Dufu was renamed as Thatched Cottage of Dufu Museum where there are more than 30,000 volumes of historical materials and more than 2,000 precious cultural relics. The existing Thatched Cottage of Dufu is combined by Plum Garden and Caotang Temple.
