Visit Xiamen Museum
Xiamen Museum has a collection of around 20,000 objects from around the city of Xiamen, Fujian and Taiwan Provinces, as well as other areas across China. Ancient ceramics, lukisan, jade ornaments, calligraphy, stone sculptures and historic weapons are displayed across several exhibitions focusing on Chinese history and culture. Visitors can explore exhibits on topics such as Xiamen’s maritime history, the city’s role in the Silk Road, and the influence of foreign cultures on local traditions. The museum’s modern architecture and interactive displays offer a captivating experience for visitors of all ages.
Please be aware that Xiamen Museum is closed on Mondays. If your tour falls on a Monday, the museum visit will be omitted from your itinerary.
Visit Huli Mountain Fort
Huli Mountain Fort, built between 1894 and 1896 during the Qing Dynasty, served as a strategic defense against Japanese attacks in 1900 and 1937. Located on Xiamen Island’s south coast, the fort overlooks the Taiwan Strait and boasts sweeping port views. Its main attraction is a collection of over 50 iron cannons dating back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Among them is the world’s oldest and largest 19th-century breech-loading cannon, the Krupp Cannon, measuring 13 meters long with a firing range exceeding 1.5 kilometer. The fort’s onsite museum also displays the world’s smallest cannon.
