Diaoyu Fortress
Founded in 1243, Diaoyu Fortress, perched on a hill surrounded by a river on three sides, is renowned for its valiant defense against the Mongol armies during the waning years of the Southern Song Dynasty. في 1259, the Mongol Khan Möngke met his demise during the siege of the fortress, forcing a hasty retreat of Mongol troops from Syria and signaling a significant turning point in their global conquest.
