Day 1 Arrive Lanzhou

Welcome to Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province positioned along the upper stretches of the Yellow River and a legendary crossroads of the ancient Silk Road.  Upon arrival at the airport or train station, your friendly tour guide will greet you and whisk you away in a private vehicle to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure.

Day 2 Lanzhou – Linxia | Lanzhou City Highlights, Transfer to Linxia

Begin your morning with a visit to the Iron Bridge of the Yellow River, the first iron bridge built over the river’s upper reaches in 1907 using German technology and materials. Next, ascend the iconic White Pagoda Mountain for panoramic views of Lanzhou. Then, stroll along the riverside path of the Waterwheel Garden. For a unique experience, brave a traditional sheepskin raft crossing of the Yellow River (at your own expense), a time-honored method of transportation in the region. After lunch and salat at Xiguan Mosque, Transfer to Linxia, the capital of the multi-ethnic Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture. For centuries, Linxia has been one of the main religious, cultural and commercial centers of China’s Muslim community, earning itself the nickname of “the little Mecca of China”.

Day 3 Linxia – Lanzhou | Linxia City Highlights, Return to Lanzhou

Begin your morning with a visit to the Donggong Mansion, a historical landmark celebrated for its intricate brick and wood carvings, often referred to as the “Grand View Garden of Brick Carving”. Next, explore the Eight Squares and Thirteen Lanes, a lively neighborhood that reflects the unique cultural traits of the local Muslim community. The architecture here is a blend of Hui brick carvings, Han wood carvings, and Tibetan paintings. After lunch, proceed to Laohua Mosque for salat prayer. Originally built in 1380, this mosque underwent a complete renovation in 2023. Its architectural design beautifully blends Arabic and traditional Chinese elements. Next, explore the Huasi Gongbei, the central hub of the Khufiyya Sufi School in China. This sacred site honors Ma Laichi, the renowned scholar who introduced the Khufiyya to China and established the Huasi Menhuan (Sufi order), the earliest and most influential Naqshbandi order in Chinese Muslim history. Transfer back to Lanzhou.

Day 4 Lanzhou | Day Trip to Yellow River Stone Forest 

The Yellow River Stone Forest is a breathtaking natural wonder, featuring towering sand stalagmites and stone pillars in a variety of shapes and sizes. This unique landscape was sculpted over millions of years by the Earth’s tectonic movements and the relentless erosion of wind and water. Depart from Lanzhou for a scenic drive (approximately 135 kilometers, about 2 hours) to the Yellow River Stone Forest park. Upon arrival, embark on a thrilling shuttle bus journey along a winding mountain road with over 20 curves. Experience a truly authentic local adventure by floating down the Yellow River on traditional sheepskin rafts. As you navigate the river, admire the stunning scenery on both banks. Afterward, return to your hotel in Lanzhou.
