Jinli Ancient Street delivers the best of Chengdu for day-to-day recreation and relaxation. What to expect at Jinli Ancient Street

Jinli Ancient Street was recovered as a part of Wuhou Temple (Historical Site of Three Kingdoms, Jinli Folk-Custom Area and West Area) by Chengdu Wuhou Temple Museum. The 550m long lane is a famous pedestrian and commercial street of Chengdu, and is titled as “The First Street in Sichuan” and “National Demonstration Base of the Cultural Industry”. Jinli Ancient Street rated as one of the “Top 10 National Urban Commercial Pedestrian Streets” in 2005 is equally famous with Wangfujing of Beijing, Jianghan Road of Wuhan, Jiefangbei of Chongqing, Heping Road of Tianjin, etc.

Jinli Ancient Street was formally opened in October 2004, and Jinli Ancient Street Phase II, the extended section (Waterside Jinli) was also opened in January 2009. Jinli Ancient Street, as one representative of Chengdu culture, has been upgraded. Visiting Wuhou Temple & Travelling in Jinli Ancient Street becomes one of the most powerful calls for travel in Chengdu.

After nightfall is the best time to visit Jinli Ancient Street, when people start to flock here and treat themselves to local delicacies from stalls and restaurants lining the streets, with an array of world-famous food offerings, which are, of course, a feature here – sandapao (sticky rice), roast beef pastry, yellow fermented glutinous rice, sweet noodles, cold noodles, pot-stewed meat or fowl, smelly bean curd, longchaoshou, and ye’erba (rice wrapped in leaves).

• Take Bus 1, 57, 82, 334, 335 or 1126, and get off at Wuhou Temple Station.

• Please take care of your belongings as there are always crowds on the street, especially during weekends and public holidays.
• Snacks street is closed after 22:00. However, various bars open late into the night.
