Welcome to Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province positioned along the upper stretches of the Yellow River and a legendary crossroads of the ancient Silk Road.  Upon arrival at the airport or train station, your friendly tour guide will greet you and whisk you away in a private vehicle to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure.

Day 2 Lanzhou | Lanzhou City Highlights

Head to Lanzhou’s Shuimo (Ink-Wash) Danxia in the morning. This breathtaking geological masterpiece showcases nature’s artistry, where soft gradients of crimson, ochre, slate gray, and muted green sweep across vast sandstone ridges, creating a landscape that resembles a giant, flowing canvas of traditional Chinese ink-wash art. After a leisurely lunch and prayers at Xiguan Mosque, the city’s largest mosque, stroll along the riverside path of the Waterwheel Garden. For a unique experience, brave a traditional sheepskin raft crossing of the Yellow River (at your own expense), a time-honored method of transportation in the region. Next, ascend the iconic White Pagoda Mountain for panoramic views of Lanzhou. Conclude your day with a visit to the Iron Bridge of the Yellow River, the first iron bridge built over the river’s upper reaches in 1907 using German technology and materials.
