Visit the Sun Island Snow Festival
The Sun Island is the second largest venue for the annual Harbin Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival. Visit Saint Sophia Cathedral
The Saint Sophia Cathedral is a former Russian Orthodox church and the largest Eastern Orthodox church in the Far East. Built in 1907 by Russian immigrants, it is one of the most well-preserved examples of Russian Revival architecture in China. Originally dedicated to the Holy Wisdom of God, the cathedral is constructed of red brick and white stone and features a distinctive onion-shaped dome. The interior is adorned with beautiful frescoes and stained glass windows. Today, the cathedral serves as the Harbin Architecture Art Gallery.
Walk along the Central Street
Harbin’s Central Street is a 1.45 km long pedestrian street located in the heart of Harbin. Built in 1898 by Russian constructors during the city’s semi-colonial period, it was originally named “Chinese Street”. Central Street is celebrated as Harbin’s ‘Architectural Art Museum’, showcasing a variety of architectural styles including eclectic, Baroque, Renaissance, and modern. As the saying goes: “You have not been to Harbin if you have not been to Central Street.”
