Visit the Chengdu Panda Base
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, or simply Chengdu Panda Base, is a non-profit facility dedicated to the research and breeding of giant pandas and other endangered species. Established in 1987 with just six rescued pandas, the base now provides a nurturing home for over a hundred of these beloved creatures. Recreating their natural habitat, the Panda Base features rivers, lakes, bamboo forests, and lush greenery. Visitors can observe pandas of all ages engaging in various activities, from playful cubs to nurturing mothers. The most active feeding time is between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Beyond pandas, the base also shelters a diverse collection of rare animals, including peacocks, white swans, and black-necked cranes.

Jinli Ancient Street
Chengdu exudes a relaxed charm, perfectly captured by Jinli Street. This 550-meter-long thoroughfare, bustling since the Qin Dynasty, is a captivating blend of old and new. Stroll past charming ancient buildings and discover a treasure trove of traditional crafts, from Shu embroidery and lacquerware to calligraphy and painting. Amidst this historical ambiance, modern bars and restaurants offer a contemporary twist. Savor the local covered-bowl tea, enjoy a Sichuan Opera performance, and indulge in a culinary adventure through the street’s diverse food stalls.
Wide and Narrow Alleys
Nestled in the heart of Chengdu, the Wide and Narrow Alleys (Kuanzhai Xiangzi) form a vibrant historical precinct where three parallel Qing Dynasty lanes—Wide Alley, Narrow Alley, and Well Alley—seamlessly blend traditional courtyard architecture with modern city life. Once a residential quarter for Qing soldiers, this lively pedestrian area now serves as an iconic cultural hub, offering visitors an authentic taste of Chengdu through historic teahouses, local Sichuan street food, traditional folk arts, and contemporary boutiques.
