Day 2 Stone Forest, Jiuxiang Scenic Area

After breakfast at hotel, you will be transferred to the Stone Forest (2 hours). The Stone Forest covers an area of 2,670 square kilometers and was formed 270 million years ago. The Forest contains peaks, pillars, stalagmites, depressions, underground rivers and caves. The Stone Forest is considered superlative natural phenomena and a world reference and listed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. Jiuxiang Scenic Area is famous for its unique karst caves, mountains, rivers, deep valleys as well as minority customs and cultures. Covering an area of about 20 square kilometers, Jiuxiang Scenic Area consists of over 100 caves and is the largest cave group system in China. It beats out China’s other caves in scale, quantity, and grotesqueness. Jiuxiang has been dubbed the “Karst Cave Museum” and “the Hometown of Karst Caves”.

Day 3 Western Hills & Dianchi Lake, Grand View Park, Kunming Shuncheng Street Mosque, Flowers & Birds Market

Visit Western Hills & Dianchi Lake with Cable Car in the morning. Located west of the Dianchi Lake, Western Hills extend for more than 40 kilometers at an altitude of 2,500 meters above sea level. Take a 20 minute cable car up to the Dragon Gate, then hike for 20 minutes to Kuixing Pavilion which is the highest point of Western Hills. Here you can enjoy an amazing bird’s eye view of Dianchi Lake and Kunming City. Then visit the Grand View Park to appreciate the longest set of rhyming couplets in China. Salat prayer at Shencheng Street Mosque. Stroll along Flower & Bird Market to see shops and stalls selling flowers and birds, cute little puppy dogs, live crickets, birds, tortoises, crawly and/or fluffy, souvenirs, replica weapons, fish, turtles, rodents, and many other items.

Day 4 Golden Temple, Green Lake Park, Golden Horse and Jade Rooster Archways, Transfer to Kunming Airport

Morning visit the Golden Temple, the best preserved and largest existing copper Taoist temple in China. It was first built in 1602 during the Ming dynasty. Over 200 tons of copper was used in the construction of the temple. Continue to visit Green Lake Park. The Green Lake Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Kunming. The park is a combination traditional Chinese buildings, local life, natural beauty and wild birds, such as seagulls that fly to the park in winter from Siberia. Wander around the Golden Horse and Jade Rooster Archways, the historical landmark of Kunming, also a paradise for foodies as a variety of local authentic food and other types of cuisine can be found here.
